It’s always important to take stock of what you already have at home before you order anything. You might be surprised just how many tools you already have at your disposal. The first place to look is your kitchen! Your pantry likely holds a treasure trove of magical herbs already! Here are some common kitchen herbs and spices with their magical properties. And I recommend that these be the first herbs you begin working with!
Common pantry herbs & spices for spellwork
Protection & cleansing herbs:
- Bay leaf – Write intentions on a leaf and burn it for manifestation; also wards off negativity. This is one that is VERY common for spellwork.
- Garlic – Repels negative energy and spirits; adds protection when hung in the home.
- Black pepper – Wards off evil, breaks curses, and removes bad luck.
- Salt (any type) – The ultimate purifier; used in protection and banishing rituals. THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE THING YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR YOUR SPELLWORK!
Money & prosperity:
- Cinnamon – Attracts wealth, success, and love; adds power to spells.
- Basil – Draws abundance, prosperity, and good luck.
- Nutmeg – Brings financial success; carried for luck in money matters.
Love & Passion herbs:
- Rosemary – Enhances love, fidelity, and mental clarity.
- Cinnamon – Sparks passion and attraction in love spells.
